LIGHT ASYLUM

LIGHT ASYLUM is the internationally revered, dark electronic dance music project of antidisciplinary performance artist, founder, vocalist, producer Shannon Funchess.Founded in Brooklyn, New York in 2007 the project would begin performing live, cathartic and frenzied performances at local Brooklyn D.I.Y. haunts such as Glasslands, Zebulon Cafe and underground art galleries, warehouses and nightclubs in Manhattan in 2009. European music festivals, nightclubs and press would follow with the debut EP and LP releases in 2011 and 2012 respectively to much success. With a passion for collaboration, Funchess has gone on to join forces with peers around the globe, lending her vocals to studio albums and live performances for artists The Knife, Tv on the Radio, Elysia Crampton Chuquimia, fashion designer Shayne Oliver's LEECH, LCD Soundsystem, !!! (chk, chk, chk), ADULT., Yves Tumor, Laurie Anderson and art film maker’s Michelle Handelman and A.K. Burns to name just a few. Funchess has established herself as a force in music, film and art worlds and continues to act, produce, remix and DJ under her name as well as perform as LIGHT ASYLUM and 4AD label-esque solo project Healing Xisis.
